The Beginning Band is a class offered to all students who want to learn how to play a traditional, musical band instrument, such as: flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, baritone, tuba and percussion. It is open to all grades 6-8. No experience is needed. Perform two concerts. Traditional Band Instruments are played. Band does not interfere with sports. Band doesn’t require prior knowledge. Band does not require private lessons. Beginning Band doesn’t require extra practices outside of the school day every week. Band is not expensive, as payment plans are available for most instruments. Beginning Band doesn’t typically use bass guitar, acoustic guitar and drumset. However, if a student is interested in joining the band, who already has experience on the aforementioned instruments, as well as violin, piano, etc., we want to strongly encourage them to join the band and learn a traditional band instrument. All instruments are not owned and maintained by the school. Other equipment (folders, printers, ink, etc.) are provided by the school. Students may optionally participate in Solo & Ensemble. Required materials for class and home use are: instrument, metronome (free app on phone), music stand, band folder, Instrument care kit (home use only), and lots of focus.
