Minor High School Jazz Ensembles and Combos

The Jazz Ensembles and Combos at Minor High School provide a learning atmosphere for students interested in the many aspects of jazz. These award-winning ensembles have performed at numerous festivals, clinics and venues throughout Alabama. Their repertoire covers many musical styles from hard swing to latin to funk to ballads and fusion. These ensembles are called upon to perform many pieces of literature that create the moods and atmospheres that our communities need and love to hear. Students learn to create and to improvise (compose melodies on-the-spot) jazz melodies and rhythms throughout the year.

The Minor SOS Jazz Band features some of the most talented student musicians in the state of Alabama.
